Important!

From this version onward, Apprentice's Codex requires Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks 3.15.4 or later. Because of a specific fix this update depends on, I will not backport compatibility to older ISS versions.

New Content

Spells

  • Added "Mana Slash" (Item only): A mid-range attack for weapons imbued with this spell.
  • Added "Long Stride": For players who want to explore without relying on horses. (Because horses can't be Recalled.)

Items

  • Added "Crystal Bladed Staff": A melee weapon designed to be used alongside a shield.
  • Added the "Enchantress Robe" set: For old-school Minecraft players. (No Apotheosis support.)
  • Added "Spell-Stained Runic Tablet": A spellbook that becomes stronger over time.
  • Added "Reflectcast Shield": Defense is the best offense.
  • Added "Explorer's Cane": Basically an offhand version of the Sojourner's Sash.
  • Added "Spellcaster's Flask": A stackable potion flask.
  • Added "Atelier Station": A support device for potion refilling.
  • Added "Arcane Cinder": A fuel item with extra utility for vanilla devices.
  • Added the "Stealth Runic" series: For players who like vanilla Invisibility potions.

Potion Effects

  • Added the "Intelligence" effect: The magic equivalent of Strength.
  • Added school-related "Affinity" effects: School-specific Strength-like potion effects. (Supports up to 8 additional schools.)

Tweaks / Changes

  • Rebalanced spell power across the board. Utility spells were reduced significantly in particular.
  • Reworked crafting recipes across the mod. Accessories in particular have been made more expensive and more endgame-oriented.
  • Renamed the "Spellcaster Gun" series to "Spellgun", and updated their names to better reflect the spells each one can accept.
  • Changed which spells can be imbued into the diamond Spellgun.
  • Added a temporary workaround for the Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks guidebook issue so it can be read again. (1.20.1 only, and only when Patchouli is installed.)
  • Changed "Arcanum in a Jar" so that when broken into item form, it drops its contents and does not retain stored data.
  • Updated "Tiny Lumberjack" so it now also breaks leaves on Nether trees.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where "Auto Magnet" could duplicate when entering a world.
  • Fixed client-side targeting behavior for block-targeting spells to feel more intuitive.
  • Fixed JEI so the "Spellgun" series now shows valid imbueable spells correctly.
