- AND MORE!!!
As you explore Appalachia, you may find that most of this map is flat-ish land! This allows you, the survivor, to settle wherever you like! You may even find that some areas will be best suited for townships on your servers! This map is truly a sandbox where you can go and do as you please, wherever you please. That said, you won't find resources easily. Some areas have an abundance of specific resources. An example of this is that crystal is highly common in the colder biomes while obsidian is common in hotter climates. There are resources scattered across the map so be on the lookout.
Want A Bit Of Lore?
Appalachia is a long forgotten proto-ark where the precursor overseers first met humanity. When they arrived, they noticed an abundance of open space and vast wilderness full of wonder and animals that were very familiar to them. They began to experiment with the animals of the map by introducing creations of their own into the wilderness to see how they would fair. No obelisks were constructed on Appalachia to ensure that the beauty of nature would not become tainted. Tek was on a concept at this stage of development. As the precursors began to see Appalachia develop, they noticed humans became bothersome to the wildlife of the area. Extinctions occurred one species after another fell by the hands of humanity. Even the animals the precursors had introduced diminished to a few select individuals. By the year 1750, all of the precursor's creations had gone extinct. Humanity had expanded far to long and gotten too cocky. The Precursors decided enough was enough and abducted all but a select few individuals. You may find that a woman named Helena had visited Appalachia hundreds of years after the event, briefly, as you will find her notes scattered across the Frontier but the reason for her arrival is unknown. It has been decades since she was there and animals she knew very well had already taken hold of the land. Seems the overseers didn't want Appalachia to go to waste after they abandoned it due to it being ruined in their eyes. Barely any remnants remain on Appalachia of them being there or the humans who were there before them. Now it must be used as a prison colony of some kind. The rest is up for interpretation.
Feedback is extremely important! All of it is taken into heavy consideration!
Thank you for giving this map a look and I hope you enjoy playing this map as much as I love developing it!!!
** Commonly Asked Questions **
Question: Will there be more coming to the map in the future?
Answer: YES!!! I plan to continue support for the map as long as I can.
Question: What will be coming to the map in the future?
Answer: I want to take community feedback into consideration for future content. If you think a certain area is needing something or multiple areas, feel free to let me know and I will see if it is possible and fits into the map.
Question: Will my feedback be heard?
Answer: Yes it will be heard but since I am one person, I would like to link the official discord for this map.
Question: Will there be new animals and items in the map?
Answer: Yes but not in the map itself but instead, in a separate free pack that brings new items and animals I am currently working on.
Question: Why are the new animals and items not in the map?
Answer: This is so people can have them on their other maps and playthroughs. I was originally going to add them into the map but I soon found out that the animals and variants would not be able to be taken off the map. I don't want that to be the case.
Question: Where is the funding going from this?
Answer: Appalachia's funding will go to not only making the map better but also allowing me to pay people to help me figure things out that I don't know how to. It will also allow me to build better creatures and items for the animals and item pack.
