557 - Addon popularity determination
What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
Please provide any additional information below.
It's always fun with rankings (to some people at least) so some form of "Most popular addons" list might be cool.
However, Phanx made a good point in the comments of a previous ticket: Addons that are frequently updated for various reasons will be downloaded more often than addons that are seldomly updated and will therefore be falsely considered more popular.
One way to get a more relevant measurement of addon popularity would be to calculate these two statistics for each addon:
1. Total downloads of latest release version.
2. Total downloads of previous release version.
The highest of these two will then be used when comparing addon popularity.
This is just an idea and the work required for the developers and/or the servers to make it happen may not be worth the gains...
