42 - Closed beta testing

it would be nice if there was a possibility to enter a "closed testing" mode for addons, this would mean the packager doesn't run and that only people that the author added to a list would be able to view the addon

why wouldn't the packager run for alpha/beta builds ?
I agree some kind of "private" status would be nice that only project members can visit the project page.. are there already project member ranks ? there could be one for tester that has only download permissions.
