1868 - Number of Comments increasing. No new comments

What steps will reproduce the problem? Please provide as much detail as possible.
1. Create a project.
2. Receive some comments.
3. Sometimes the number of comments shown on main page will randomly increase with no new comments.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

At what time and date (year, month, day) did you get this bug? (Include your timezone)
8-1-2009 to Present

The number will increase by one or two on some days but there is never a new comment.

These are most likely spam related. The spam comments are just "hidden" and not actually deleted.

The comment count on one of my projects has increased by about 2 per day. I have checked the comments and cannot find any new ones. It has gone from 198 to 211 very quickly.
