1462 - Installing some updates makes the PC reboot
Submitted Via
Curse Client 4.0.0.784, Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
Description
When installing some of these mandatory updates, it will notify you via the usual pop up message that it is about to do so, then after you press OK, it will make my display go off as the monitor gets no signal, and the PC reboots it's self without warning. (no "shutting down" screen apears, it is as if you have pressed the reset button on the PC)
Oddly, no errors apear in event viewer relating to this event in any category that I can see. The PC never does anything like this at any other time, and did not do it with version 3 of the client.
Steps to Reproduce
start the computer with the curse client v4 Beta installed and press OK to the mandetory apdate prompt.

Adamar Mon, 05 Oct 2009 22:48:08I have changed this ticket from Defect to Other, since it is not reproduceable.

Archarodim Sun, 04 Oct 2009 12:51:36this kind of auto restart are often caused by a buggy driver. Try to update all your hardware drivers, especially network related drivers. Are you using some security software on your computer?

egingell Sun, 04 Oct 2009 03:47:30What you're describing sounds to me like the computer shutting itself off to prevent a catastrophic failure (melt down).
If you want to force the BSOD, go to System Properties (right click My Computer and click Properties), click the Advanced tab, click Settings in the Performance section, and uncheck "Automatically restart".

personanongratis Sun, 04 Oct 2009 02:00:18Could this be similar to what happen to me, though Anseur is not getting BSOD?

Adamar Sat, 03 Oct 2009 13:18:42Curse Client v4 should never cause your PC to reboot. Are you 100% sure that v4 is the cause of this, and not something else?
