376 - "Install with the V4 Curse Client" problem on Snow Leopard/Firefox

Description
On Mac OS X 10.6.2, using Firefox 3.5.5, automatic install of addons (from web) using the v4 alpha Curse Client does not work. Rather, the browser downloads a .CCIP file, which cannot be directly opened in the client. This problem does not occur with v3.
